How cost per lead is calculated
Cost per lead is simply total ad spend ÷ number of leads. This tool works out the leads from your clicks and landing-page conversion rate, then extends the picture: leads close into customers at your close rate, giving cost per customer (CAC), and each customer's value gives your return on ad spend (ROAS) and gross profit.
The two biggest levers on CPL are landing-page conversion rate and click quality — doubling conversion rate halves your cost per lead without spending a rupee more. If your CAC is higher than your customer value, the campaign loses money on the first sale and needs repeat purchases or better targeting to work. Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate cost per lead?
Cost per lead equals total ad spend divided by the number of leads generated. This tool derives leads from your clicks and landing-page conversion rate, so CPL = ad spend ÷ (clicks × conversion rate).
What is the difference between CPL and CAC?
CPL (cost per lead) is what you pay for an enquiry. CAC (customer acquisition cost) is what you pay for a paying customer, so it accounts for your lead-to-customer close rate. CAC is always higher than CPL.
What is a good ROAS?
A break-even ROAS depends on your margins, but many businesses target 3× or higher on cold traffic. Below roughly 1.5–2× the campaign often loses money after delivery costs unless customers repeat-purchase.
