How marketing ROI is calculated

Marketing ROI compares the profit your marketing brings in with what it costs: (gross profit − marketing investment) ÷ marketing investment. Investment here means everything you spend each month: agency or team fees, ad spend and other costs such as tools or content. Gross profit is revenue minus the cost of delivering what you sold, because revenue alone overstates the return.

Many businesses lose money on a customer's first purchase and make it back on repeat purchases, so the calculator shows both. The lifetime profit to cost per customer ratio compares the gross profit a customer brings over their lifetime with what it cost to win them. The higher it is, the more you can afford to spend on growth.

The TechGeekStudio plan fees in the first field are our published monthly prices from the pricing page; ad spend is always paid to Google or Meta separately. The results are estimates from your inputs, not a forecast of what any campaign will achieve.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate marketing ROI?

Marketing ROI = (gross profit from marketing − marketing investment) ÷ marketing investment. Investment includes agency or team fees, ad spend and other costs such as tools and content. Use gross profit rather than revenue, because revenue ignores what it costs you to deliver the sale.

Should agency fees be included in marketing ROI?

Yes. Looking only at ad spend (ROAS) makes campaigns look more profitable than they are. The fee you pay an agency or your own team is part of the cost of winning customers, so this calculator adds it to the investment.

What is a good lifetime value to CAC ratio?

It depends on your margins and how quickly customers pay back, but a ratio well above 1 : 1 is needed for marketing to be profitable over time. If customers rarely buy again, judge the campaign on first-purchase ROI instead.

What do TechGeekStudio's plans cost?

Starter is ₹25,000/month, Growth ₹55,000/month and Scale ₹1,20,000/month, or ₹20,000, ₹45,000 and ₹99,000 a month when billed annually. Ad spend is paid to Google or Meta separately.
