How Much Does a Digital Marketing Agency Cost in India?
If you have asked three agencies for a quote, you probably have three numbers that are hard to compare. One is a monthly retainer, one is a percentage of your ad budget, and one is a "starting from" figure with the details left for later. That isn't a trick. Digital marketing agency cost in India depends on how the agency charges, which channels you need, and how much work each channel takes.
This guide explains the pricing models agencies use, what actually moves the price, the costs people forget to budget for, and how to compare quotes fairly. We're an agency ourselves, so we'll also show you exactly what we charge, using the same prices published on our pricing page.
The short answer
There is no single market rate, and anyone who gives you one without asking about your business is guessing. What you can pin down is the structure of the cost:
- An agency fee for the work: strategy, execution, content, reporting.
- Media spend paid to Google, Meta or LinkedIn if you run ads. This goes to the platform, not the agency.
- Tools and one-time costs such as landing pages, tracking setup, design work or software subscriptions.
- GST on the agency's invoice. Digital marketing and advertising services in India are generally taxed at 18%, so check whether a quote includes it.
A useful quote separates all four. A quote that blends them into one number makes it impossible to tell whether you are paying for work or for clicks.

| Pricing model | How it works | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | A fixed monthly fee for an agreed scope | Ongoing SEO, social media and content | Vague scope ("full SEO") that makes it hard to know what you get |
| Percentage of ad spend | The fee is a share of what you spend on ads | Larger, stable ad budgets | An incentive to raise spend rather than lower cost per lead |
| Project fee | One price for a defined deliverable | Websites, landing pages, audits, tracking setup | Change requests billed separately once work starts |
| Hourly or day rate | You pay for time used | Consulting, training, small fixes | Costs that are hard to predict without a cap |
| Performance-based | Payment tied to leads or sales | Some lead-generation offers | Arguments about lead quality, and who owns the ad account |
Many agencies combine models. A common pattern is a retainer for SEO and social media, plus a management fee for ads, plus project fees for anything built once.
Retainers: read the scope, not the headline
A retainer is only as good as its scope. Two agencies can both charge a similar monthly figure while one tracks 10 keywords and publishes nothing, and the other writes four articles a month and fixes technical issues. Ask for deliverables in numbers: keywords tracked, posts per month, platforms managed, ad budget covered, meetings and reports included.
Percentage of spend: fine at scale, awkward when small
When a business spends a small amount on ads, a percentage fee may not cover the time needed to set up tracking, write ads and review search terms, so some agencies add a minimum fee. When a business spends a lot, a pure percentage can become expensive for work that doesn't grow at the same rate. A flat management fee within a spend band is often easier to reason about.
What actually moves the price
The same agency can quote very different amounts to two businesses. These are the factors that do it.
- Number of channels. SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, social media, email and WhatsApp each need their own planning, content and reporting. Every channel you add is real work.
- Competition in your market. Ranking for a local plumber term in a smaller city takes less content and fewer links than a national software keyword. Competitive markets need more work before results show.
- Content volume. Articles, landing pages, ad creative and social posts are usually the biggest driver of hours. Ask how many of each are included.
- Ad budget size. More spend usually means more campaigns, more testing and more search-term cleanup.
- Tracking and reporting depth. Reporting "impressions and clicks" is quick. Tracking which channel produced each lead, meeting and sale takes setup work, and it is what lets you judge whether the money is working.
- Who does the work. Senior strategists cost more than junior executives. Ask who will actually run your account day to day.
- Speed and support. Weekly calls, same-day responses and WhatsApp support take time that a monthly email report doesn't.
- Your website. If the site is slow or doesn't convert, an honest agency will say so. Fixing it may be a separate project, but skipping it wastes the marketing budget.
The costs people forget to budget for
Agency fees are only part of the bill. Before you compare quotes, list these too.
- Ad spend. Google Ads has no minimum spend, but a budget that is too small produces too little data to learn from. Decide your media budget separately from the agency fee.
- Landing pages. Sending paid traffic to a generic home page usually wastes money. A dedicated page for each main offer is often worth building.
- Tracking setup. Google Analytics 4 events, Google Ads conversion tracking and a lead form that records the source of each enquiry.
- Creative. Photography, video or design work for ads and social media, if the agency doesn't include it.
- Software. Email platforms, CRM, scheduling tools and WhatsApp Business API messaging costs, which are billed by the provider.
- Your own time. Approving content, answering leads quickly and giving feedback. Marketing that produces enquiries nobody follows up is the most expensive kind.
- GST. Confirm whether each quote is before or after tax.

|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ₹25,000/month | ₹20,000/month | SEO for 10 keywords, Google Ads management (up to ₹30K ad spend), social media on 2 platforms with 8 posts a month, monthly report, dedicated account manager |
| Growth | ₹55,000/month | ₹45,000/month | SEO for 30 keywords plus content, Google and Meta Ads (up to ₹1L ad spend), social media on 3 platforms with 20 posts a month, 4 blog posts a month, conversion rate optimisation, bi-weekly strategy calls |
| Scale | ₹1,20,000/month | ₹99,000/month | Full SEO suite, all relevant paid platforms, 12 blog posts a month, web design updates, weekly strategy calls, custom dashboards, a dedicated senior strategist |
Add-ons on any plan:

- Video ad creative: ₹25,000 per video
- Technical SEO audit: ₹12,000 one-time
Ad spend is paid directly to the ad platforms and is not part of these fees. Websites, apps, CRM and AI automation projects are quoted after a free scoping call, because their scope varies too much for a fixed price to be honest.
